As the year draws to a close, naturally…one begins to reflect on what was. At the start of the year, I realised that I had pre-determined goals from at least two years ago that I was actively working toward. And when 2023 began, I decided to visualise my goals by creating not a digital one, but an actual vision board, as an active reminder of the things I had already began and were yet to be achieved. In hindsight, I now see that I have been working toward the ‘5-year goals’ that job interviewers always ask about. Anyway…twenty-twenty three has been a productive year, where I have grown in my relationship with God, as an academic and researcher, and as a friend to my oh so precious tribe! And something that has been visible to you as a reader, was the start of this style blog. Not only did I finally start my own thing, but the blog has already undergone changes as it went from being called Granadilla by akoss, to ‘The Sunday Affair- The Style Narration’. A lot of good happened this year, and there were also days of sadness and needing to rely on God for comfort and strength. And through it all, we can thank God for health and the blessing of a new day!
And as I, and I am sure you too, reflect on the year that has been, here at The Sunday Affair, we are reflecting on my personal favourite looks of twenty-twenty three. Now, what I have come to realise is that I absolutely love the Winter and Autumn seasons for the different garments I can wear that make me feel and look good. And one of those outfits was the Denim-on-Denim paired with a Leopard Print Scarf, and Nude Pumps. This outfit was a personal favourite because the scarf paired well with the blue of the Denim, which also paired well with my skin tone. The jeans were perfectly fitted, and the outfit was well suited for work and a casual day being out-and-about. I advise that investing in a good and well-fitted denim jacket is an investment for your wardrobe, that will last you some years to come. And when you have a few scarfs, you can always mix and match to create new looks in an inexpensive way.

The next look was the Full-length Black Body Con Dress paired with a Biker Jacket and No-name Chunky Sneakers. For those who know, you can attest to how Biker and Leather Jackets can be quite warm, and if you wear one on a hot Summer’s Day, you will sweat out the meal you ate. So, wearing a Leather Jacket is not only perfect for the Winter Days, but the Spring season where it is a little chilly and you aren’t really feeling for a Jersey. So that was why I paired my Biker Jacket with the Body Con dress, as the dress was of a very light material and with the Biker Jacket, I was warm enough for the rainy and windy conditions. And the Chunky Sneakers which were inexpensive from a known clothing store had a thick white heel which added height and elongated my silhouette which was easy on the eye.

And the last and absolute favourite outfit for the year, was the Knee-Length, Knitted & Ribbed Nude Body Con Dress paired with Black Chelsea Boots and a Vintage Hand-Held Box Bag. This outfit was my favourite because it was minimalistic and looked really good. The light nude colour sat well on my skin tone and as I said it before, was a perfect wear for the Winter and Autumn season. And nude is an amazing colour for when you are in a formal and semi-formal setting, which means you are not limited to wearing this for a casual outing but can get your money’s worth by wearing it to work.

An aspiration for ‘The Sunday Affair’ is that whilst I document my style journey, you as a reader are getting encouragement and confidence to adorn the garments that best reflect who you are, and that you too have your personal favourites from the blog and from your own wardrobes. And as this is the last post for 2023, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
See you in 2024!

Out of the 3 my favorite has to be the black body con dress and biker jacket combo, you look like you are coming for everything that's yours. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too, I can't wait to see what you have for us in 2024. 💖
