I remember the time between the mid 2000’s when almost every girl, teen and woman had a Gypsy Skirt. You may not remember how it looked like by the mere mention of the name, or you may not have called it a Gypsy Skirt. But the skirt was distinguishable by the multiple tiers and creases in the material. Those skirts looked like they were thrown into the washing machine, then a tumble dryer, then placed at the bottom of a stack pile and forgotten about for six months. Can you believe that the wrinkled look was the actual selling point of these skirts! Gypsy Skirts were also made in different materials and had different designs and colours, making it desirable to everyone, despite their tastes. What also made the Gypsy Skirts popular was the fact that they were long and were worn throughout the year. They were also manufactured in all sizes, so women of all ages and shape were wearing these skirts. I even had a Gypsy Skirt of my own which was a blush colour and I always wore it with a pink, long-sleeve. Fast forward to today and the Gypsy Skirts are often worn by those with the Bohemian or ‘Boho’ style. The skirts can be expensive, particularly from online brands or stores.
Although what I am wearing in today’s post is not a Gypsy Skirt, I have an inkling that it may have been influenced by the time period when the Gypsy Skirt was it!

As we are nearing the end of Autumn, I am using every sunny day as an opportunity to wear the items of clothing I am most likely going to forget about in the upcoming Winter. A lunch date with a friend was good enough reason to wear this black Trapeze Mini Dress. And like the Gypsy Skirt, it is tiered with a wide hem which flows at the slightest presence of wind. I am not much of a mini shirt gal, and I think it is safe to say that my Gypsy Skirt wearing days are long gone, but I can definitely rock a ‘mini dress’, and show of my ‘Wednesday Legs’ with my favourite Superstars.

Awee you look adorable... And I had a gypsy skirt from 2009 till now 🤣 it became fashionable again so I'm still gonna wear the same skirt feeling fashionable meanwhile pulling old clothes back!
Such a blast from the past! I remember a black gypsy skirt I had, but only because it was high maintenance. After washing it, it needed to be tied into a big knot, then the knot needed to be hung out to dry, but not in direct sunlight. Maybe that's one of the reasons I've come to appreciate low maintenance clothes.
Can't go wrong with a trapeze dress! 👌
