Styling Complexities & Intricate Pieces

The sun is out and it’s hot outside, and the longer days feel like the perfect excuse to linger and explore a bit more than usual. And what I love most about this season is the opportunity to wear summer dresses. However, I do have ‘other’ summer items, and I make it a point to wear most of the clothes I have in my wardrobe. But what happens when you have a garment that is tricky to style and doesn’t seem to pair well with any of your other clothes...They chill at the back of the wardrobe! And that has been the situation with this Off-Shoulder Top with an elasticated waist detail, flare silhouette and above hip length. For the longest time I didn’t know what to do with it so I would just avoid it. If I tucked in the top, it pronounced my chest in an unappealing manner. When I left it untucked, it looked like maternity clothing. And when I would attempt to belt it at the waist, it was waaay to awkward for my liking. Not to mention the irritation of pushing my bra straps off my shoulder for a clean appearance. So, after at least a year, I decided to give it another try as my wardrobe had changed since getting the top…and I must say, I’m glad at the outcome. I chose to subtly shift my bra strap to the side rather than completely off the shoulder. Styling a top with a flowy and structured fit such as this Off-Shoulder top is a playful challenge and has to pair with an item that will balance the proportions in your outfit, which is why I paired it with High-Waisted Ripped Skinny Jeans and Accessorised Sandals to let its personality shine.

Yours stylishly
