Obsession with Nude

For the past couple of years, the online community has been obsessed with the colour Nude. Many fashion bloggers showcase their wardrobe which are filled with different tones of Nude’s, Brown’s, and White’s. Clothing stores have increasingly stocked clothing of earthy tones, and many fast fashion stores are following suit. And I think I have officially joined the same WhatsApp group.

Wearing a garment in a Nude colour or tone exudes a clean aesthetic which is why most women gravitate toward it. Nude and earthy tones have a way of making you look like you have spent a lot of money to achieve the look. Furthermore, I find that these garments do not require extravagant accessories and are versatile in that they can be worn to formal and casual occasions. I particularly love this light, knitted, bodycon dress as it accentuates my figure. What is even better is that the Nude tone complements my skin, without having a camouflage effect. The two mini slits on either side add to the dress, in showing a little leg and thigh.

The amazing thing about wearing a bodycon dress is that you can pair it with heels, sneakers and even sandals, and still look good. I opted for a pair of black Chelsea boots to not only keep warm in the chilly weather, but to also show off the little carf line (which appears ever so slightly) when walking in the streets of Maritzburg.

And to top off the look, a 90’s box-shaped, leather croc, hand-held bag, which is in a chocolate brown colour.

When it comes to wearing Nude’s and other earthy tones, I have heard women use terms such as ‘feminine’, ‘classy’ and ‘modern’ which when you think about it, makes sense. These are the descriptions that come to mind when you see someone in these light, natural colours. And I do not believe that there is anything wrong with wanting to exhibit these traits. However, the danger arises when we place a high expectation on ourselves to always present ourselves in this way. Without dividing too deep into ‘feminine energy’ politics, I believe that women’s femininity is not dependent on the colour that you wear. Just as you see me in Nude today, on another day you shall see me in all Black, Navy or even a bright Yellow. Do not let the high expectations of others which may be rooted from a bad place, influence you into a style that does not represent who you are! Enjoy the wide variety the fashion industry has to offer.

When I grow up and make wealthy people money I know I want to explore the nude look, it is so simplistic and stylish and just makes you look and feel calm. I always find that I always arrive late or never to fashion trends, I end up rocking looks long after they've been forgotten by the society that once embraced them. I have also seen that these colors are associated with femininity online, but I think dressing modestly in whatever color is what I would personally define as part of being feminine, especially as a Christian woman. . . I also love this look on you and I love your choice of boots and the brown bags ties it…
