In with the Old & In with the New

For as long as I can remember, I always had a sense of entitlement to garments I had purchased from stores. I would walk into a shop, browse through what was on offer, and I would go through the ritual of trying on a piece that caught my attention. After minutes of posing in front of the fitting room mirror, I would finally feel certain in purchasing the item. And unbeknownst to me, I never wanted to walk down the street and see anyone adorning my beloved garment. Never mind the fact that the shop had twenty others in stock varying in sizes, and heaven forbid that someone else had similar tastes to mine…I was happy in my delusion that nobody would dare wear the same item of clothing as me! So, you can imagine the shock of spotting ‘my’ outfit on somebody else when I whole heartedly believed it would be worn solely by me. But the beauty of styling is that you can mix and match items together, creating a whole new look…free from potential copycats! This week, I decided to pair a Collared Blue Button-Down Shirt with a Black Sweater, creating a new Collared Sweater look modelled by many mannequins in shopping malls. I paired them with Skinny Jeans (cause I am a never say die millennial) and Nude Flat Loafers merging street comfort with a touch of elegance.
