So why do we gravitate toward wearing black clothes? Black jeans, black T-shirts, and even black shoes! There are so many people who love wearing black whereas other people just find themselves with a lot of black clothes in their wardrobe. Some people have to conscientiously buy clothes of multi colours just to add diversity in their wardrobe. Is it because we shy away from wearing a lot of colours, or we think we are too grown to wear certain garments? Whatever the reason is, I am here for it!

There was once a time where I was rummaging through my clothes because I was attending an event which required me to wear some obscure colour. While I was searching through my wardrobe for something I knew I did not have, I realised that I had an abundance of black and navy garments. There were so many black T-shirts folded on top of each other that I could not even remember what the garment was, until I unfolded it. Not to mention the black boots, pumps and sneakers which were all black. I was a little bit shook, as if I wasn’t the one who went out and purchased all these clothes, not realising that they are all the same colours. Upon realising that I did not have an alternative item to wear to the particular event, I landed up getting a top that could pair well with jeans and heels. That day, it also occurred to me that I like having a reasonable number of black items in my wardrobe. Now don’t get me wrong, I do have clothes that are other colours and patterns, but best believe that if the dress code of a party is all black, I don’t need to stress myself about looking for a new outfit to wear. I have just enough black clothes for when I want to wear black for a formal occasion, a casual fit or even for a semi-formal night out.

My favourite thing about wearing black is that it allows you to wear an item of clothing that might be loud in colour, or jewellery that can be spotted a kilometer away. Wearing black allows you to effortlessly look good whilst using accessories and bags to do all the talking. And many people can say the same about wearing white, but today, we not here to talk about white. And the funny thing is, wearing all black is not even a trend. It is something that a lot of people do intentionally and unintentionally. And honestly, I don’t think there is another colour with staying power like black. So, to all the people who like saying orange is the new black, or green is the new black…I say, Black has always and will always be the only Black.
akoss.
I love how black clothing makes you look slimmer than you actually are 😂 and I am a big fan of oversized black t-shirts and this post made me realize I need more. I am here for the look you have on here, even the hair and the necklace you brought it!
