I am sure you remember growing up in the early 2000's, where denim was the most in style item globally. You could turn on the TV and watch sitcoms or movies where the actors wore denim like there was nooo tomorrow. The YOU magazine was filled with celebrities who wore embellished denim, while attending movie premieres and popular award ceremonies. Even our favourite musicians in music videos would rock various clothing items we did not even know were made in denim (like the beginning of the Dilemma music video). Everywhere you looked on popular media platforms, denim always took centre stage. Even if we shift our attention to the people immediately around us, we can all recall a time when a parent, aunt, or uncle wore a denim item and looked too good for their generation. Or if you are like me, you may have hijacked a denim item from a sibling (cough cough...she will come for me in the comments). And we cannot forget how back then, every denim item was referred to as a 'jean'! A denim shirt was called a 'jean shirt' and a denim jacket was called a 'jean jacket'. Denim was a part of us.

Then, for a few years, the denim wave was phased out. We saw less and less of the denim jackets and the denim shirts. Not to mention how the denim waistcoat vanished off the face of the earth. But we all know that styles are never really gone! Fast forward to today and we have seen a wide variety of jeans that are being worn by men and women. Bootlegs made a comeback, skinny jeans were embraced by guys, jeans were even more ripped than before; and women started rocking 'Mom Jeans', 'Boyfriend Jeans', 'High-rise Jeans', 'Flared Jeans', 'Wide-leg Jeans', 'Jeggings', and 'Low-rise Jeans'. Even denim jackets made a comeback with most people rocking the classic jacket with the pockets on either side of the chest area. What was even more creative was the wave of denim jackets that were styled with graffiti, embellishment or had badges stitched on or pinned on.

While many people wear the statement denim pieces, I personally enjoy wearing a full denim outfit. There are days where I don't want to put a lot of effort into getting dressed and I find that a denim shirt paired with jeans, is one of the easiest ways to look good without all the fuss. The outfit literally does the talking on your behalf. And another amazing thing about denim outfits is that they don't discriminate. Anyone and everyone can rock a full denim outfit and in multiple ways. You could do the slim fit and tucked-in outfit, or adorn a loose fitting-denim shirt or boyfriend jean. Some people even have the panache to rock half and half without looking clumsy. Either way, I love the new denim outfits and I hope the creativity around it is here to stay!
akoss.
I remember the 2000s the crazy wave of bedazzled jeans and sparkles on jeans, we really were doing a lot in that era. My collection of denim includes one ripped jeans, two boyfriend jeans and a high jean. I do not think denim is going anywhere anytime soon
